Conclusions of the Cambridge Future Cities Conference

On the 29th June, the first Cambridge Future Cities Conference was held. The conference is part of a broader initiative bringing together academic research and commercial and public sector expertise on issues around how to design, develop, govern and thrive in cities.   The initiative is led by the Real Estate Research Centre in the Department of Land Economy at the University of Cambridge and supported by CapCo plc.   The goals are similar to the mission of ULI and the write up has been prepared in partnership with ULI. UrbanPlan Students Celebrate at London’s City Hall

ULI was delighted to host an event for all the winning student teams and their teachers who participated in UrbanPlan UK this academic year to mark their successes at iconic London landmark – City Hall. UrbanPlan UK takes an urban regeneration workshop into state schools and is designed for 16-18 year olds. Integration of Land Use and Transport and Changing Perceptions Identified as Drivers for Densification in Birmingham

ULI recently convened two workshops in Birmingham on the subject of density. Density plays a key role in shaping cities that are productive, sustainable and healthy. With Birmingham’s population set to increase by 150,000 people and the UK’s total population nearing 72 million people by the year 2032, the need to create successful, dense urban environments has never been greater. Launch of ‘Pearls of Research for Practical People’ Series

ULI UK will launch a new ‘Research Insights’ series aimed at connecting real estate professionals with current academic research on 22nd September. The series will feature a curated selection of practical and well executed research papers prior to publication in academic journals and aims to debate the practical application alongside the theory.
