We are delighted to invite you to the next ULI Midlands YL’s event: an exclusive Lunch & Learn with Ian MacLeod, Assistant Director, Planning and Regeneration at Birmingham City Council.
Birmingham has been selected as the host city partner of the XXII Commonwealth Games in 2022. The vision is that the Games will “demonstrate the very best of Global Britain to the world, showcasing the region’s strengths of: being connected and accessible; youth and inclusivity; and a focus on regeneration and rejuvenation. Birmingham is perfectly positioned to attract people to the Games and to ensure that the benefits of hosting extend from the city and region, to the UK and the Commonwealth.”
Ian is leading on the delivery of the Athletes’ Village which will be a 1,200 unit new residential development in Perry Barr which will host 6,500 athletes and post Games will be the first phase of a new residential neighbourhood for the City.
Ian will be providing an update on progress so far as a lot has happened in the first 6 months and details of future plans and what will be happening next, there will be the opportunity to discuss what the village will mean for Birmingham for the Games and the legacy that it will leave.
