     ULI United Kingdom invites you to join our 2023 Annual Conference on 11 May; a full-day event at the Barbican Centre, London.

    There will be a variety of session formats throughout the day including panel discussions, fireside chats and case studies. Your ticket includes a networking lunch in the Garden Room/ Conservatory, along with the additional option to take a guided tour of the Barbican Centre during lunch.
     
    The conference will run from 9:00am - 4:00pm and be followed by a drinks reception on the iconic Conservatory Terrace.

    Tom Wilcock

    UKIMEA Digital Services Leader, Arup Group Ltd

    Tom Wilcock is the Digital Services Leader for Arup's UK, India, Middle East and Africa (UKIMEA) business. His focus is on applying emerging digital technologies to transform traditional design processes and create better physical and social systems for clients and communities. In his time at Arup, Tom has pioneered the application of experiential design in structural engineering and developed custom simulations that mimic the movement of buildings and bridges. With a background in numerical analysis, he has seen first-hand the power of digital tools to transform the built environment. They have been central to his work delivering specialist structures from transport infrastructure to renewable energy installations and super high-rise buildings. Previously, Tom was the Americas Digital Leader, based in New York. He founded the advanced technology and research practice in New York, to drive innovation in the built environment. He was also instrumental in setting up Arup’s digital and venturing businesses in the Americas, engaging with start-ups and developing non-traditional revenue models.

    Claire Spencer

    CEO, The Barbican Centre

    Claire Spencer joined the Barbican in May 2022 as the first-ever CEO. Previously, Claire led the Arts Centre Melbourne where she successfully steered the organisation; re-positioning the Centre for the future and ensuring it was a key leader in the cultural precinct and a major contributor to Victoria’s creative economy. Prior to this, Claire worked at the Sydney Opera House. Key projects Claire led at the Arts Centre Melbourne included: the launch of the ground-breaking Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts (Asia TOPA) - a collaboration with more than 30 Victorian organisations from across the cultural sector; the development of the Australian Music Vault; and the establishment of the Arts Wellbeing Collective, which promotes strong individual wellbeing for those who work in the arts sector. Claire led the organisation tirelessly through the challenging years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Claire is a Member of Chief Executive Women – the pre-eminent organisation representing Australia’s most senior women leaders from the corporate, public service, academic and not-for-profit sectors. She supports The Pinnacle Foundation, established to provide scholarships and mentoring support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex students who are marginalised or disadvantaged. Claire was also a member of the inaugural Australian Government’s Australia–Singapore Arts Group. Her outstanding contribution to the performing arts was recognised in the 2020 Australia Day honours list in which Claire was conferred a Member of the Order of Australia award. Claire is a Chartered Accountant and a Theology graduate. She is married with three children.

    JAMES ROSENFELD

    BLACKSTONE

    James Rosenfeld is a Managing Director in the Real Estate Group based in London. Mr. Rosenfeld focuses on Blackstone’s real estate acquisitions in the UK. Since joining Blackstone in 2014, Mr. Rosenfeld has been involved in a number of Blackstone’s investments in the UK, including iQ Student Accommodation, Sage Housing, and The Office Group. Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Rosenfeld was an Analyst in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs International. Mr. Rosenfeld graduated from the University of Oxford with a first-class degree in History and received an MPhil in Real Estate Finance from the University of Cambridge.

    Kirsty Wilman

    Chief Operating Officer, Real Estate, Federated Hermes

    Kirsty is Chief Operating Officer for Real Estate, working with the Real Estate CEO to set and execute a strategy focussed on growing the Real Estate business with new products, strategies and clients. She supports the Fund Managers on all corporate, financing and structuring transactions. Kirsty is also responsible for the team setting and implementing an ESG and sustainability strategy across the Real Estate portfolio working to ensure ESG is fully integrated in all decisions made in the Real Estate lifecycle. Kirsty held previous roles at Federated Hermes as Director of Finance and Operations in Real Estate and Head of Private Markets Operations where she was responsible for the financial reporting, controls environment and operations for all Real Estate client mandates. Kirsty is also a Non-Executive Director of Real Estate Balance Limited which is an organisation working to improve the diversity of the Real Estate industry. Prior to joining Federated Hermes, Kirsty was a Senior Manager at Ernst and Young in Audit and Assurance working with Real Estate and Entrepreneurial clients. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005.

    Paul Bashir

    Harrison Street

    Paul brings 25 years of industry experience to the Firm and is a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee. As Chief Executive Officer of Europe, based in London, he leads the expansion of Harrison Street’s European strategies and is responsible for overseeing and growing the Firm’s team of professionals across the UK and Europe. Prior to joining Harrison Street, Paul was most recently President and Chief Operating Officer at Round Hill Capital, a real estate investment and asset management firm with a global footprint. While at Round Hill Capital, he managed a business with a $8+ billion portfolio as well as a team of 260 people across 15 offices in 14 countries. He has overseen investment and development projects, regulatory approvals, complex refinancings and capital raises in multiple European locations across a wide array of real estate asset sectors including retail, commercial, residential and student housing. Prior to joining Round Hill, Paul served as a Partner at Aggmore Group, where he was responsible for raising and deploying over €500 million of new capital and developed JV partnerships with European operators in the residential and commercial real estate space. Earlier he served as Chief Operating Officer at North Bridge Capital Partners Ltd. he began his career at KPMG LLP as a senior manager in the transaction services department. Paul earned a BA in Accounting and Financial Analysis from Newcastle University. he is ACA qualified and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

    Trevor Williams

    TW Consultancy

    Trevor Williams is the former chief economist of Lloyds Bank. His extensive experience covers financial markets, econometric modelling, banking markets, analysis of the UK and global economy and financial market risk. Topical issues such as global trade, the housing market, demographics, productivity, the fourth industrial revolution, ‘big’ data, global mega trends and the future of manufacturing are areas he has focussed on. Trevor runs his own consultancy – TWC: www.trevorfwilliams.co.uk, and is co-founder of FXGuard – a fintech based risk management tool for SMEs to manage foreign exchange risk exposure. He is a visiting Professor at the University of Derby, St Marys University, rotating Chair of the IEAs Shadow Monetary Policy Committee (SMPC), author of Trading Economics (Wiley), and writes a regular monthly column in Moneyfacts.

    Yohance Harper

    Associate Partner, Quadrant Estates

    Yohance is an Associate Partner at Quadrant where he specialises in Central London asset and development management. Yohance previously studied and worked in architecture on commercial projects in the UK and luxury residential abroad before joining CBRE in 2014. He spent a year in investment valuations before joining CBRE’s Capital Advisors. There he was a non-discretionary advisor working debt and equity investment strategies focusing on development. This included fund structuring, investment management, strategic development management, asset repositioning and development finance. Outside of his professional role, Yohance is an honorary lecturer at UCL’s Bartlett School of Planning and a visiting research fellow in the economics department of Goldsmiths University. He also holds academic and committee roles at The ULI, RICS and UCEM and has been featured or recognised by awards from The BCO, BPF, RICS and Dezeen.

    Anne Kavanagh

    Telford Homes Limited, Telford Homes Limited

    Anne Kavanagh is the Chief Executive Officer of Telford Homes, a Trammell Crow Company Developer. She chairs the Telford Homes Executive Committee and sits on the Board of Directors. She is a trustee and global board member of the Urban Land Institute. She also serves on the advisory board of Cambridge University’s master’s degree in Real Estate Finance. Anne Kavanagh has an extensive track record in transforming and growing global businesses, working closely with investors and occupiers and driving diversity and sustainability. Anne previously served as Board Director and Chief Investment Officer at PATRIZIA, a Germany-based global real assets investment manager. Under her leadership, PATRIZIA grew to manage more than €55 billion in real estate assets. She also oversaw key acquisitions and all investment activities for the firm, including PATRIZIA’s key fund management strategies. Prior to joining PATRIZIA in 2017, she held leadership roles at AXA Real Assets, Lazard, Cambridge Place Investment Management and JLL.

    Debra Yudolph

    Partner, SAY Property Consulting LLP

    Debra has over 25 years’ experience in residential property and is recognised as one of the major contributors to the industry. Before starting SAY with Charles Seifert, Debra was Director of Asset and Property Management at Grainger plc for ten years. She was responsible for building Grainger’s asset and property management expertise, as well as being part of the leadership team. Debra is an expert in residential property and asset management with a particular focus on Build to Rent, Place Making, Regeneration and industry innovation. Debra has a keen interest in the positive social impact that can be delivered through new development and recently founded Do Some Good, a platform to offer and receive pro bono and voluntary support between charities and the Real Estate Sector. Debra has non-executive roles on the boards of Grove End Housing Limited, M&G Shared Ownership Fund, is an advisor to DeverellSmith Recruitment and served on the Board of Notting Hill Housing for nine years. She is a recognised spokesperson on behalf of the residential sector and is a member of Property Weeks Resi Senate.

    Honor Barratt

    Managing Director, Birchgrove

    Honor is the CEO of Birchgrove, a specialist age-exclusive developer working to establish a portfolio of assisted living neighbourhoods with well thought-out facilities for rent. Central to Birchgrove's proposition is the belief that renting instead of owning a home is the most liberating form of tenure, allowing neighbours to retain their independence without the burden of homeownership. Birchgrove has a bunch of happy neighbours in Sidcup in Kent and two neighbourhoods in Woking and Ewell, both in Surrey. Following closely behind are Banstead, Godalming, Leatherhead - all in Surrey - and most recently Chiswick, Hampton Court and Old Isleworth in London. Honor is happiest in the company of older people and this has nothing to do with the amount of Victoria Sandwich or good chat on offer.

    Michael Howard

    Managing Director, Urban Bubble

    Owner and Managing Director of award-winning property management company urbanbubble Limited. Urbanbubble was founded in 2008, after Michael experienced poor property management from the block he was living in at the time. Now, urbanbubble manage over 11,000 homes across the Leasehold, Build to Rent and Co-Living sectors, with a further 5000 in the pipeline, and employs over 400 staff.

    Adam Burstow

    Business Development Executive, Amazon Web Services

    Adam Burstow is Amazon Web Services’ business development lead for the construction and real estate industries in EMEA. He began his career as a quantity surveyor, construction project manager and facilities consultant. He then joined KPMG Consulting’s real estate and construction team, providing technology services and based in London and New York. This led to chief information and digital officer roles in the real estate industry, most recently as Group Digital & IT Director for Grosvenor Group. Adam has also been an advisory partner at Concrete VC which invests in proptech startups. An urbanist and technologist, he advocates the improvement of cities and places through technology and is Co-Chair of the ULI UK Innovation Product Council.
