We are pleased to confirm the dates of this year's ULI Europe Young Leaders Autumn Study Tour, which will take place 30 September - 1 October in Madrid.

The event will pull together a range of speakers exploring themes of Future in Cities and Mobility, Transformation in Real Estate, Public-Private Sectors Collaboration and ESG.

    Confirmed site visits:

Madrid Nuevo Norte Project - is the largest urban regeneration project in Europe, acting in over 2.3M sqm of land. It means a unique opportunity for attendees to learn a new Avant-guard approach toward city-making, solving complex urbanistic, social, administrative challenges in Madrid. This project aims to position Madrid in as one of most competitive, sustainable, and prosperous cities in Europe.

Madrid Rio Bike Tour - it has become one of the most relevant international examples of riverbank regeneration and creation of green spaces on infrastructure use. The burial of the highway, a complex traffic engineering work, but also of energy and water distribution, freed up an extensive surface space that allowed the great park of Madrid Río to be carried out, which connects the banks of the Manzanares with the city.

Canalejas, Plaza de España - regeneration of Centro District. This district in Madrid is regarded as the old town and highly represent the historic value of the city. Centro has undergone several highly efficient urban regeneration projects such as the transformation of Plaza España or the refurbishment of Gran Vía.

He Has been working for more than 30 years in urban mobility planning and in the remodeling of Public Spaces and in the last 26 years in the Madrid City Council. He has participated in the development of cycling and pedestrian mobility in the city and in particular in the Madrid Cycling Mobility Master Plan of 2008 and in several strategic planning documents as the Strategy for the creation of the network of pedestrian itineraries in the center of Madrid in 2012. In recent years, he has directed some of the projects and works for remodeling actions in the city center such as the reform and expansion project for Gran Vía, Plaza de Opera, Puerta del Sol, Chueca and Justicia Areas, Eje Centro and Amaniel, Francisco Silvela, Plaza del Marqués de Salamanca, Museo de Esculturas de la Castellana among others. More recently, it has participated in the successive reform phases of Calle de Alcalá-Canalejas, one of the most emblematic streets in Madrid, which houses some of the oldest and most representative institutions in the city and reflects the evolution of architecture and history of it. The most recent works focus on coordinating municipal projects and works in order to develop a joint strategy that generates a recognizable, coherent and differentiated city image. For this, the signs of identity of the city of Madrid are identified and recovered and the different elements of the urban language are redesigned. Finally, our challenge is to adapt the city to the changes derived from climatic evolution through renaturalization of public spaces, reviewing the role of private motorization and recovering the leading role of the pedestrian, definitely, Architecture as a tool to improve people's lives.
