    Reza Merchant, CEO, The Collective
    Biography:

Reza’s journey started whilst studying at the London School of Economics. Frustrated by the lack of high-quality yet affordable accommodation for young people in London, he decided to tackle this problem by creating his own lettings agency called Share in the City. Over time, this has evolved into The Collective, one of the most innovative and dynamic property companies in London. In May 2016, The Collective launched the world’s largest co-living building, The Collective Old Oak.

Reza places great value on entrepreneurship, demonstrated through his involvement in the Prince’s Trust. He also set up The Collective Growth Fund and The Collective Foundation, designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs, artists and outstanding students. Reza partnered with Carl-Turner Architect to deliver Pop Brixton, the community-led initiative launched in May 2015. It is designed to give independent retailers, restaurateurs and artists, as well as start-ups, a chance to bring their ideas to life by providing affordable space in a campus of environmentally friendly, up-cycled shipping containers. The project has quickly become a go-to destination for consumers across London. The same team will be delivering Peckham Levels in the iconic Peckham carpark in October 2016, a new creative community for local people, artists and entrepreneurs.

He strongly believes that life begins at the end of your comfort zone, and achieving your full potential requires you to constantly challenge yourself on a number of different levels. Keeping this at the front of his mind has been instrumental to The Collective’s success.

Reza was recently listed as one of the EveningStandard’s most influential people in London and as one of Property Week’s Top Forty under 40. He has also won awards for Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2015, from Estates Gazette, PROPS and London Loves Business, and was named a Young Gun 2015, by Startups.co.uk.
