In June, ULI UK held its annual Capital Markets Roundtable, kindly supported by Greenberg Traurig LLP, to discuss the latest trends and future outlook for UK capital markets. The roundtable consisted of industry experts within the capital markets and built environment space to gauge a wide range of  perspectives. The attendees considered market sentiment, the prospects for equity and debt, sub-sector winners and losers and the impact of ESG.

The conclusions of this roundtable were presented and debated last night at a forum on the 3rd of July 2024 at the Science Gallery London.

John Forbes of John Forbes Consulting LLP  presented the write up from the roundtable and discussed key findings on:

• Transaction Activity
• The Domestic Institutional Market
• The debt funding gap and the opportunity for debt funds
• Offices and Retail
• The challenges with raising capital
• ESG

This was followed by a panel discussion on these findings, moderated by Steven Cowins of Greenberg Traurig LLP. Steven was joined by:

• Andrew Allen of Savills Investment Management
• Lorna Brown of Birchwood Real Estate Capital
• Emma Long of Legal & General Investment Management
• Nick Duff of The Townsend Group

The panel gave unique insight into the findings of the roundtable and their perspectives on the current trends and the future outlook for UK capital markets. This was followed by an audience Q&A.

The event concluded with a networking drinks reception in the Kings College London Science Gallery.
