25 of Europe’s top real estate investors, lenders and advisors provided their insights at this year’s ULI UK Capital Markets Forum, which took place in June. The Forum, kindly sponsored by Cushman & Wakefield and Dentons, discussed both the debt and equity markets. The sentiment was that capital continues to flow to Europe, as the political risk of EU instability was not yet having an effect on investment appetites. The debt markets were felt to be expanding, though were not yet plentiful or deep. And while Spain divided opinion, it was predicted that poor growth in the UK regions looked set to disappoint those investors chasing value outside of London in the months ahead. A report of the Forum is available to download here.
With global economic uncertainty, a slowdown in the services sector and continued speculation regarding interest rates, it will be interesting to discuss whether opinions have changed and what concerns are keeping us awake at night at the next Forum, which will take place in June of next year.
We are also hoping to introduce a series of quarterly Capital Markets breakfast sessions to discuss recent trends and opportunities within capital markets.
