ULI UK is pleased to announce the appointment of both Yohance Harper (Associate Partner, Quadrant Estates) as Young Leaders Executive Committee Chair, and of Imogen Thompson (Director of Projects, Amos Ellis Consulting) as Vice-Chair, with both terms commencing in April 2022.
Yohance succeeds outgoing chair Mariya Tsvetkova (Investment Manager, NREP), who has led the committee to deliver an outstanding variety of events despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic for the majority of her term.
Yohance Harper is an Associate Partner at Quadrant where he specialises in Central London asset and development management.
He previously studied and worked in architecture on commercial projects in the UK and luxury residential abroad before joining CBRE in 2014. He spent a year in investment valuations before joining CBRE’s Capital Advisors. There he was a non-discretionary advisor working debt and equity investment strategies focusing on development. This included fund structuring, investment management, strategic development management, asset repositioning and development finance.
Outside of his professional role, Yohance is an honorary lecturer at UCL’s Bartlett School of Planning and a visiting research fellow in the economics department of Goldsmiths University. He also holds academic and committee roles RICS and UCEM and has been featured or recognised by awards from The BCO, BPF, RICS and Dezeen.
Speaking of his appointment, Yohance says:
“After the fantastic example set by Mariya Tsvetkova, I am genuinely excited by the opportunity to lead the Young Leaders Committee this year. It’s an essentially interesting time as industry bodies adjust to the new context. The Young Leaders Committee has always excelled at enabling knowledge sharing and networking in the built environment and this year will focus on engagement through in person events. I personally looking forward to the range of dynamic events coming forward.”
New Vice-Chair Imogen Thompson is an experienced leader, creator and manager of planning, development, and infrastructure projects. She specialises in large-scale regeneration schemes, transit-oriented developments, and long-term strategic planning, with experience working on a range of major projects across the UK, North America, and the EU.
Imogen’s innovative approach to team leadership has meant the successful delivery of complex major development projects, growth strategies, business cases for public- and private-sector investment, and public consultations.
Across her career, she has led the strategic planning and approvals programmes for multi-billion pound regeneration projects, and has secured a cumulative £1 billion worth of government funding and investment in transit-oriented development bids to enable property development. Outside of her professional experience, Imogen is a keen advocate for diversity and inclusion, championing more diverse representation in the land use and infrastructure industries.
Imogen is a leader in her industry, sitting on other executive committees for national and international organisations including Women in Planning. She is passionate about community development, and volunteers regularly with community groups.
Imogen commented:
“I’ve been actively involved in ULI for many years now, so I am honoured to be stepping into the role of vice-chair for the UK Young Leaders Committee. The built environment industry is experiencing significant change to rise to the challenges of the future. I am excited to put the ULI Young Leaders at the heart of that conversation. In-person events, honest conversations, and building future talent pipelines through networks and mentorship is going to be a big focus over the next couple years, and I look forward to championing Young Leaders as essential contributors to our industry’s future.”
The ULI UK Young Leaders Committee will soon be opening applications for new members and UK Under 35 Members will receive details of how to apply via Navigator.
