On 16 August a group of ULI UK Young Leaders gave their time to volunteer at the North Paddington Food Bank. The group sorted through deliveries of food and toiletries, organising and preparing donations for the next distribution session.
North Paddington Foodbank was set up to help address ‘hidden hunger’ which affects many households in the UK. The Foodbank provides regular packages to around 60-90 families across North Westminster in need of emergency food supplies due to financial distress or other crises situations. They operate through a voucher system in partnership with local services including GPs, Westminster Citizens Advice Bureau, social landlords, and local churches and schools.
The Foodbank is entirely reliant on donations of food and toiletries and financial contributions, as well as on volunteers such as the ULI group to help sort through donations, prepare packages, collect further supplies where necessary, and help with distribution each Wednesday morning.
