Join us on 1 June for a 'Lunch and Learn' with Mike Lally, Owner and Director, Cadence Projects. The session will focus on Cadence Projects – Starting a construction consultancy business in a global pandemic, hints and tips on what not to do.

In the summer of 2020 against the backdrop of a global pandemic and three months into becoming a father for the first time, Mike Lally decided to step away from the safe confines of life as a Partner at a large corporate construction consultancy and go it alone.

Cadence Projects is a Construction Project Management consultancy based in Birmingham, leading the delivery of construction projects for clients such as Cordia Blackswan, Millennium Point, Inspired Villages, and various local authorities and developers in the region. Having started trading in February 2021 the company has enjoyed rapid growth in turnover, staff numbers and company profile to become a market disrupter in the well-established Birmingham construction consultancy market.

Mike will talk us through the various steps, both technical and mentally, that he went through to get the business going with the hope of imparting some lessons learnt to anyone thinking of setting up their own business or looking to take on a Director role. This is a light hearted session for those who want to hear some of the trials and tribulations to watch out for when becoming a business Director for the first time and to ask any of the burning questions you may have before taking a step up to company ownership.
