Join us on Thursday 26 October at 12.30pm for a 'Lunch and Learn – the Subjective and the Objective' with Sara Boonham, Senior Director, Head of Cost Management UK, Gleeds.

Sara has a passion for town and city centre regeneration and the creation of place counterbalanced with the realities of leading Gleeds Cost Management practice.

Join Sara for an insightful discussion focussing on the subjective nature of regeneration and placemaking and the conflict with the objective reality of construction cost inflation. Are the two mutually exclusive or can you still deliver great placemaking despite these cost pressures?

We will host this as an in person event, with lunch and drinks provided by Gowling WLG at their offices – Two Snowhill, Birmingham.

We look forward to you joining us for this event!

Please get in touch with will.cafferkey@uli.org if you have any queries for this event.

Further lunch and learns being organised by the Midlands include lunch with Taz Shaikh, Gensler on Thursday 23 November and Carl Potter, Avison Young in early 2024.

    Speaker

    Sara Boonham

    Gleeds Cost Management

Sara has thirty years’ experience in the construction industry working for several prominent consultancies serving public and private sector clients across the sectors. Quantity surveying provided a firm foundation from which Sara diversified into Employer’s Agent and Project Management services plus specialist claims and contractual advice. Sara joined Gleeds in 2015 to establish a Retail Developments Sector based upon personal expertise and contacts. Recognised as both technical expert and thought leader within the industry, Sara has a reputation as scheme facilitator, connecting people to unlock workflows. With a proven expert in strategising, developing and implementing new business streams, Sara’s role naturally expanded into full town and city centre regeneration to recognise the changing market place, maximise opportunities and expand the client pool. The recent adoption of the role of Head of Cost Management position was a natural transition as a true advocate of service delivery excellence. Sara has a history of providing mindful leadership to both improve technical capabilities and motivate and inspire staff at all levels. Sara considers that service delivery excellence alone does not offer a true differentiating factor in the current fast moving world in which we must seek to become a strategic partner to our clients and influencers offering them the corporate advantage in their marketplace through creativity and ingenuity. In this respect the human dimension becomes front and centre in the evolving corporate environment and life-long relationship building is critical as we recognise that the invisible psychological factors determine customer choices. Sara has a passion for the role and a pride in establishing connections, unlocking opportunities and satisfying clients which propels her out of bed each morning. At the end of the day however the important “me” time is taken up by three horses and a love for show jumping and the adrenaline rush which that offers!
