    ULI United Kingdom invites you to join our 2024 Annual Conference on 30 April; a full-day event at Tobacco Dock, London.
     
    The theme of this year's conference is "Orchestrating Urban Change". There will be a variety of session formats throughout the day including panel discussions, fireside chats and case studies. Your ticket also includes a networking lunch in the Dock Gallery. 
     
    The conference will run from 9:00am - 4:00pm and be followed by a drinks reception.

    Keynote Speaker

    Will Page

    Will is the author of the critically acclaimed book Tarzan Economics, which has been translated into five languages and published in paperback under the title “Pivot.” As the former Chief Economist of Spotify and PRS for Music, Will pioneered Rockonomics. At PRS, he saved BBC 6Music. At Spotify, he articulated the global value of music copyright. As a fellow of the The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Will recently penned a discussion paper on Glocalisation, which received global acclaim. Showing that the world isn’t flat, the FT summarised his findings as: Music markets are ‘glocalising’ — and the English-speaking world better get used to it. A passionate communicator, Will is a regular contributor to the BBC, Financial Times, and The Economist and co-presents the Bubble Trouble podcast. He also serves as a fellow at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, and the Royal Society of the Arts.

    Mark was appointed Interim CEO of the GPA in December 2023. He is an established corporate leader with over 30 years of strategic and operational real estate experience across asset management, investment, development and operations. Mark was previously Managing Director UK and Ireland at Hammerson plc, Executive Director at Capital & Regional plc and Interim Corporate Director City Development at Liverpool City Council. He studied Industrial Economics at Nottingham University and began his career in Audit at KPMG.

    Mott MacDonald

    Oliver leads Mott MacDonald’s Cities Studio, its placemaking and regeneration business that brings together masterplanning and urban design, town planning and place economics expertise to deliver integrated urban development solutions. Over the last two decades, Oliver has led a number of major strategic planning, placemaking and business case exercises for major urban development programmes in towns and cities across the UK and internationally.

    Yohance Harper

    Associate Partner, Quadrant Estates

    Yohance is an Associate Partner at Quadrant where he specialises in Central London asset and development management. Yohance previously studied and worked in architecture on commercial projects in the UK and luxury residential abroad before joining CBRE in 2014. He spent a year in investment valuations before joining CBRE’s Capital Advisors. There he was a non-discretionary advisor working debt and equity investment strategies focusing on development. This included fund structuring, investment management, strategic development management, asset repositioning and development finance. Outside of his professional role, Yohance is an honorary lecturer at UCL’s Bartlett School of Planning and a visiting research fellow in the economics department of Goldsmiths University. He also holds academic and committee roles at The ULI, RICS and UCEM and has been featured or recognised by awards from The BCO, BPF, RICS and Dezeen.

    Simon Chinn

    Vice President Research & Advisory Services, Urban Land Institute - Europe

    Simon is Vice President, Research & Advisory Services at the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where he is responsible for managing its innovative research agenda covering the key issues shaping the future of the real estate industry including climate change and sustainability, investment and development trends and shifts in demography and technological change. Prior to joining ULI, Simon specialised in research on global cities and real estate for Grosvenor, one of the world’s largest privately-owned international property businesses. Simon’s role involved undertaking analysis on global city developments to inform the company’s long-term strategy and thinking on cities. He has undertaken major research projects on megatrends for real estate, examining topics such as urbanisation, demographic change, digital disruption and climate change. Simon also has previous experience working in urban planning, economic development and strategic consulting for the retail sector. He holds an MSc in Urban Economic Development from The Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College London.

    Emma Fletcher

    Low Carbon Homes Director, Octopus Energy

    Emma is the Low Carbon Housing Director at Octopus Energy. Her career has centred on leading high impact, high innovation projects in real estate, with a particular focus on housing, energy performance and green energy production. Her practical experience includes starting her career in rural surveying and estate management moving into award-winning housing and regeneration developments. Emma is a passionate advocate for change, community resilience and sustainability solutions for all. She established and led the UK’s first fossil fuel-free district heating scheme in her village, Swaffham Prior. Her work regularly features in trade, national and international press & media.

    Shain Shapiro

    CEO, Sound Diplomacy

    Shain is one of the world’s leading music and cultural policy thinkers. He is the founder and chairman of economics consultancy Sound Diplomacy, founder and director of the global nonprofit Center for Music Ecosystems and author of This Must Be The Place: How Music Can Make Your City Better. Shain has pioneered the work of music cities and music ecosystem policy, where music is written into how cities and places plan and invest in their future.

    Imogen Thompson

    Regeneration and Infrastructure

    Imogen Thompson is an experienced leader, creator and manager of planning, development, and infrastructure projects. She specialises in large-scale regeneration schemes, transit-oriented developments, and long-term strategic planning, with experience working on a range of major projects across the UK, North America, and the EU. Imogen’s innovative approach to team leadership has meant the successful delivery of complex major development projects, growth strategies, business cases for public- and private-sector investment, and public consultations. Across her career, she has led the strategic planning and approvals programmes for multi-billion pound regeneration projects, and has secured a cumulative £1 billion worth of government funding and investment in transit-oriented development bids to enable property development. Outside of her professional experience, Imogen is a keen advocate for diversity and inclusion, championing more diverse representation in the land use and infrastructure industries. Imogen is a leader in her industry, sitting on Executive Committees for national and international organisations including the Urban Land Institute and Women in Planning. She is passionate about community development, and volunteers regularly with community groups.

    Mark Collins

    Executive Director, CBRE Limited-UK

    Mark is an Executive Director – Chairman of UK Residential for CBRE. Now celebrating 40 years in the property industry, Mark is regarded as a leading figure in London residential, with a wealth of experience and contacts. In June 2013, Mark became a Fellow of the RICS. He is the immediate past Chairman of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Property and Construction Committee. Mark was a Director of Fulham Football Club and was an elected member of the Premier League, as a Football Association Council Member. Mark also sits on the London Mayor’s, Homes for Londoners Board alongside the Mayor himself and in September 2021 was extended for a further 3 year term. He sits on the Urban Land Institute UK Executive Committee and the European Residential Product Council. Mark is a member of the Reading Real Estate Foundation Fundraising Committee and is very focused around promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry. He also supports the Kings College NHS Hospital Charity.

    Andrei Martin

    PLP Architecture

    Andrei Martin is a partner at PLP Architecture and a founding partner at PLP Labs. Andrei has over 20 years’ experience of residential, commercial, and master planning projects in the UK, China, Europe, USA, and the Middle East. Andrei is a European Living Concepts Product Council member and a senior lecturer at the University of Westminster. He has published, lectured, and exhibited internationally. As a designer, researcher and educator, Andrei is interested in the potential of architecture to transform urban experience and reshape contemporary culture. Andrei’s experience includes a wide range of program types and project scales. He has led the design for The Collective Old Oak, the first large-scale co-living building in world, as well as other numerous alternative residential, mixed-use and mixed-generational hybrid typologies that redefine the architecture of contemporary living and form a strategy for the future of collective urban housing. Andrei is a Romanian/American national living in London. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

    Ibrahim Ibrahim

    Portland Design Associates Ltd

    Ibrahim is the Managing Director of Portland Design. Based in London and established in 1987, Portland is part of the global Perkins&Will architecture and design group. Portland is a leading strategic branding and retail design business and works on a broad range of projects including retail, F&B, consumer brands, shopping centres, airports, train stations, mixed use developments and urban regeneration Portland’s understanding of consumers’ relationship with brands and their engagement with branded physical and digital environments lies at the heart of their work. This understanding is built through research and insights that drive future customer expectations. Portland places great emphasis on ‘future readiness’. Ibrahim originally trained as an aeronautical engineer and is a post graduate of the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is a regular speaker at conferences and a frequent contributor to journals and trade press. He has written regular pieces for The Economist ‘Insights’.

    Executive Director, MGT Investment Management

    Adina David is Executive Director at MGT Investment Management where she is responsible for leading the company's rental living strategy, growing the firm’s residential portfolio across London and Southern UK. Adina has over 12 years of industry experience. Before joining MGT, Adina was Director of Urban Living at Greystar, where she was responsible for consolidating their global strategy around the development and acquisition of urban living assets. Prior to this, Adina worked in acquisitions of UK BTR and shared living developments at Greystar and The Collective. Notable projects include the world’s tallest modular building which opened in Croydon in 2021. Prior to joining Greystar in 2016, Adina worked in acquisitions and asset management for Dermot, a residential company in New York. She started her career in commercial real estate with Knight Frank in Bucharest in 2010. Adina is the Founder of Ladies in Real Estate, a 1,400-member networking group, and Co-founder of Doyenne, a road cycling club for women in property, with both groups supporting LandAid’s Networks Against Homelessness initiatives. Adina is a Member of ULI UK's Residential Council Steering Committee and a supporter of their UrbanPlan programme.

    Megan Walters

    Global Head of Research, PIMCO Prime Real Estate

    Dr Megan Walters is an International Director at JLL and head of research, leading a team of 170 researchers in Asia Pacific, part of a team of 300 researchers globally. The team is provides research thought leadership, data collection and analysis across the markets, including JLL’s Real Estate Intelligence Service, considered the industry’s leading market research service for real estate. Dr Walters, is a Fellow of RICS with a PhD from the University of Hong Kong in institutional economics of real estate. Megan has an interest in the issues of multiple ownership property (strata title) and property rights on urban environments and city development. Megan joined JLL in 2010 as Head of Research, Asia Pacific Capital Markets, a role responsible for advising investor clients and generating publications on office, retail and industrial real estate trends in capital markets. She is also a member of the JLL Global Research Executive with responsibility for the global office leasing group. Megan sits on the research committees of ANREV and APREA and is the ULI Women’s Leadership representative for Asia Pacific on the WLI Global Committee. Megan held an Adjunct Associate Professor position at National University of Singapore and served on the RICS International Governing Council for 2009 to 2015.
