On Thursday 6th November 2014 ULI hosted a joint full member and young leader event at the Leadenhall Building, a.k.a. The Cheesegrater. In collaboration with Oxford Properties, who kindly hosted and sponsored the event, attendees were given a tour of the building – which included its fast lifts (8m/s) with spectacular views – and a presentation by Mike Rayner, Head of Development. The presentation included use of a huge state of the art touch-enabled screen, which provides interactive information about the building.
The audience was shown a video presentation by Laing O’Rourke, the construction company commissioned by the joint developers Oxford Properties and British Land. The construction is in itself an impressive feat of engineering, and the total glass cladding ensures that the steel mega-frame (which is the largest of its kind in the world) forms a conspicuous and integral part of the building’s bold design.
At 225m / 737 ft in height, 122 Leadenhall Street provides the highest office floors in the City market and unsurprisingly stunning views of the City and Canary Wharf to match.
